Following the release ofYou’sseason 4, fans of the show observed a significant reduction of romantic sequences between its lead characters in contrast to its predecessors. And it appears the reason behind the depletion of s*x scenes is theYoustar Penn Badgley himself.
The actor revealed his long-standing desire to exclude himself from getting involved in intimate scenes because of his commitment to Domino Kirke. And during the shooting of the fourth season ofYou, the lead actor finally decided that he was done performing s*x scenes for the show.

Season 4 ofYouwitnesses a phenomenal reduction of intimate scenes
The first part of the fourth season of Netflix’sYou, which was released last Thursday, comprised a substantial reduction of intimate scenes, including its lead character Joe Goldberg. And one of the key reasons behind the decision was the lead actorPenn Badgleywho requested the changes.
Even though theYouactor has been romantically inclined with Victoria Pedretti’s Love Quinn for the first three seasons of the show, the actor revealed that he had a long-standing desire to exclude himself from s*x sequences. The actor opened up that he is no longer comfortable performing onscreen intimate scenes and the reason behind it is his marriage with Domino Kirke.

Penn Badgley is no longer keen on performing onscreen intimate scenes
In the latest episode ofPodcrushed’spodcast, Penn Badgley shared that he didn’t want to be part of further s*x and kissing sequences for the show. The actor emphasized the importance of fidelity in a relationship and especially in his marriage with the singer Domino Kirke. He stated,
This was a decision I had made before I took the show. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it publicly, but one of the main things is, ‘Do I want to put myself back on a career path where I’m always [the] romantic lead? Fidelity in every relationship, especially my marriage, is important to me. It just got to a point where I don’t want to do that.
Badgley revealed that he explained his situation to Sera Gamble, the creator of the show, before the filming of the fourth season. And even though he knew that the aspect of intimacy couldn’t be downright removed from the DNA of the show’s concept. But he shared that Gamble was glad that Badgley was honest about his feelings and Netflix then went on to reduce a sizeable amount of s*x and kissing scenes from the show.

Even though there has been a considerable reduction of s*x scenes from the Netflix thriller, the charming personality of Penn Badgley’s character Joe Goldberg is sufficient to leave the fans in awe. And the fourth season as a whole hasn’t failed to live up to its predecessor’s standards and fans can’t wait for the release of the second part.
