Brie Larson fans though, have stood up in large numbers for their favorite star, by defending her position as Captain Marvel with some hard-hitting facts about female-led superhero films.

Brie Larson’sThe Marvelsnow has the dubious distinction of having the worst opening weekend by any Marvel film in the history of the franchise. Made at an ambitious budget of $228 million, the film managed to only collect $47 million in the US and $68 million globally over the 2 days.
With criticisms being thrown at the film and the cast from all corners, Larson’s influence as one of Marvel’s iconic superheroes is also being questioned. Fans of the Oscar winner though, have been steadfast in their support of the actor. Netizens have taken to social media to show some hard proof about the double standards that exist regarding female-led superhero films, by quoting many male-led flops.

With the SAG-AFTRA Strike finally ending after a 5-month ordeal on November 9th, 2023,The Marvelsstar Brie Larson admitted that she was relieved on hearing the news, and happy to be able to finally talk about her much awaited film. The actor appeared onThe Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallonto elaborate on her experiences working on the film,reprising her Captain Marvel role, and enjoying some great moments with her favorite co-star,Samuel L. Jackson.
“Yeah, he’s just my favorite, [and] I’m his second favorite. On The Marvels, there was a moment we were working together, and they’re like, ‘Can you do one more take,’ and he’s like, ‘Of course, of course, anything for my second favorite co-star.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean? What are you talking about? Who’s your first?’ And he was like, ‘Me!’ I mean, I can’t fight with that.”
Apart from sharing screen space in their Marvel gigs, Larson and Jackson have formed a special bond as co-stars in films likeKong: Skull Island, andUnicorn Store,which was directed by theRoomstar herself.
