Disney+ just aired the season three finale ofThe Mandalorian, leaving viewers with many feelings and questions. Others were confused by the reveal of the name of the show’s beloved green alien, Grogu, while fans of the show were thrilled to see the story come full circle.

In Chapter 13 of the second season, viewers finally discovered that Grogu was supposed to be known as The Child or Baby Yoda for the first two seasons. Grogu’s name was changed again in the season three finale, leaving viewers perplexed and wondering what the new moniker meant.

For the first two seasons ofThe Mandalorian, the show’s fans referred to the show’s tiny green alien simply as The Child or Baby Yoda. The character’s name, Grogu, was not revealed until Episode 13 of Season 2. This was discovered when Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi fromThe Clone WarsandRebelsanimated series, used the Force to discover Grogu’s name.

In the season three finale episode,The Return. After much hard work, Grogu has completed his training and is now fully integrated intoMandaloriansociety. To mark the event, the show’s protagonist, Din Djarin, who has become a father figure to Grogu, suggests that he would like to adopt Grogu as his son.
The Mandaloriancharacter known as the Armourer, who makes and fixes the armor worn by the show’s protagonists, agrees to make it official and renames Grogu to Din Grogu. Fans were quick to take to social media to speculate on the meaning of Grogu’s new moniker.
