Henry Cavill’s Superman workout has the internet in a chokehold. A video recently surfaced on Twitter showing the full range of Cavill’s regimen – getting some reps done before a scene on set, boxing moves that parallel his fight sequences in the film, and all of it tied up with a severe weight training routine. TheMan of Steelactor had spoken numerous times about his intense strength and conditioning workout that had helped him get into shape for the 2013 film. And as far as the results were concerned, the fans didn’t complain then and they are not complaining now.

Henry Cavill’s Superman Workout Brings Back Nostalgia
Even though the 007 franchise had rejected the actor back in 2005, the role of Superman was not something he would let slip through his fingers that easily. Henry Cavill has been bullied, shamed, and criticized throughout his young adult life for his weight. His childhood had been plagued by comments about the same, including a particularly cruel nickname assigned to him by his peers.
As he grew older, his love for the movies grew as well, and by age 17, Cavill had already dropped out of school, taken a voyage across the pond, and begun to pursue his Hollywood dream full-time. A decade later, an opportunity would put Zack Snyder and Cavill on a direct collision path, and together, they would bring an incredible vision to life for the audience. The actor, already well-defined by then, launched an intense year of physically getting ready for the role that he had only ever dreamed of as a child.

The routine that later made even The Rock’s head spin rightfully got named the Kryptonian workout, and the result was worth it for someone who would go on to physically emulate Superman in what has often been dubbed as the best adaptation of the DC comic hero in cinema.

Fans React to Henry Cavill’s Kryptonian Workout
With Henry Cavill’s Kryptonian workout video resurfacing on social media, the timing of it already aligns perfectly with the ongoing rage against Warner Bros. and DC for Cavill’s exit. That act, initiated as one of the first orders of business by James Gunn, cuts particularly deep still. And even though the logic behind the exit has been acknowledged, understood, and accepted, the overwhelming grief of the loss and the disappointment for what could have been, has become a constant factor that plays into the lives of the core fandom.

Now, all of those feelings have resurfaced along with the workout video, as Cavill moves around on the screen while a heart-wrenching melody on the piano plays the original background score from the 2013 film. While the video in itself is a reminder of why Cavill was so perfect for the role, it also serves to point out how any actor that now succeeds Cavill in the role will be the most heavily criticized Superman actor in the history of movie remakes.
In the midst of the Twitter netizens going gaga over the video, fans have already begun drawing comparisons as to how Gunn’s younger Superman will never be able to embody the role the way Henry Cavill did a decade ago.

Henry Cavill as Superman was something truly legendary and even though the dream was a wonderful one given the terminal leash of 9 years to live, each second that Cavill walked in the character’s shoes will always remain a delightful experience for him and the audience alike.
