Evidently, even the Academy Award winner experienced her fair share of acting disappointment in Hollywood, during her initial years.

In a recent interview onHoward Stern’s SiriusXMradio show, Jennifer Lawrence opened up about the rejections she faced in Hollywood. Revealing, how she missed out on a part in the 2010 movie,Alice in Wonderland, featuring Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway, Lawrence called it the most discouraging moment in her career.

Jennifer Lawrence Auditioned ForTwilight

Jennifer Lawrencemight be one of the biggest Hollywood stars in the world, but even she faced major rejection that shaped her career for the better. Famously known for her role inThe Hunger Games, the actress initially auditioned for a role in the super popularTwilightseries. However, the 33-year-old was immediately rejected and never received a callback.

“I auditioned for Twilight. They turned me down immediately. I didn’t even get a callback, but my life would have been totally different.”

Being unaware of the reason for which she was rejected fromTwilight, the actress explained, “I didn’t really know what it was”. Lawrence further discussed the experience of auditions, stating, “when you audition when you’re a run-of-the-mill actor”. She further added, “we’re all auditioning for all sorts of things – you just get like five pages and they’re like, ‘Act, monkey!’”

Although the actress regretted losing the part in the infamous franchise, another rejection disappointed her more thanTwilight. Evidently, the actress auditioned forJohnny Deppand Anne Hathaway’s $1.3B franchise,Alice in Wonderland.However, the Oscar winner lost the role in the 2010 live-action remake.

Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t too disappointed when she didn’t end up inTwilight.Instead, the actress felt truly lost, after getting rejected from Johnny Depp andAnne Hathaway‘s $1.3B franchise,Alice in Wonderland.The 33-year-old recalled the incident by stating how devastated she was upon losing the lead role in the 2010 movie.

“The one thing that really killed me, like the only time that I’ve been truly devastated by losing an audition because most of the time you’re like, ‘Aw, wasn’t meant to be, move on, what can you do?’, was at Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland”

Recalling the moment of sheer disappointment in herself, Lawrence stated, “That one devastated me”. Revealing how desperately she sought the lead role in Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway’s franchise, the 33-year-old mentioned feeling really low in her career. However, the actress further shared her honest appreciation forMia Wasikowska, who led the movie.

“[Mia Wasikowska] was perfect and amazing and I couldn’t have had a British accent” Jennifer Lawrence mentioned. She further moved on with her career after she landed her lead role in the infamous adaptation –The Hunger Gamesfilm series. “I knew it was going to be a life-changer, I knew,” the actress mentioned. And evidently so, the $2.9B franchise turned out to be a career changer for the actress.
