The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Specialis the final MCU project to come out in 2022. It is also the second of Marvel’s newSpecial Presentationseries, followingWerewolf By Nightback in October. As the holiday season is about to kick off this week, this was absolutely the perfect thing to come out this week. It’s a wonderful special, featuring great music, fantastic performances, lots of heart, and Kevin Bacon; what more could you ask for?

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Review
The premise of the special is that Mantis wants to give Peter the perfect Christmas present. This results in her teaming up with Drax to travel to Earth and bring back Peter’s hero, Kevin Bacon. That alone makes the special worth watching! Kevin Bacon is having a blast playing himself, and seeing him with the Guardians of the Galaxy is hilarious. Pom Klementieff gives her absolute best performance as Mantis in the MCU so far; she is the heart of this special, which was the perfect choice. Dave Bautista continues to have a fun time playing Drax, and his chemistry with Klementieff is great.

The rest of the Guardians show up as well, with Chris Pratt getting the most to do of the remaining Guardians. Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel return as Rocket and Groot, with Maria Bakalova joining in to voice Cosmo the Spacedog. Sean Gunn is back as well as Kraglin and is a full fledged member of the team by this point. The member who gets the least amount to do is Karen Gillan as Nebula, which I hope isn’t the case forGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3next year.
Overall, I think this is the perfect way to end 2022 for the MCU and to start the holiday season. I can’t go into everything because of spoilers, but you should absolutely watch this over Thanksgiving weekend with your family and friends. James Gunn has done a fantastic job not only with this special, but with the Guardians of the Galaxy as well. He’s taken these obscure comic book characters and turned them into household names; I look forward to seeing what he will do over at DC now and especially toGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3next year!
