In fact, these shots were able to scareJoe Rogan, a long-time martial artist himself.

In an episode ofThe Joe Rogan Experience, the host was in conversation with WWE legend Hulk Hogan, where they were talking about his appearance inRocky III. Rogan expressed his astonishment as he watched theRambostar being manhandled by the pro wrestler in the film. He said that although that scene gave a sneak peek at what the orchestrated show pro wrestlers put for the audience, the physical aspect is as real as it gets. He also praised just how much Stallone was willing to go through to put on a fight, saying:

“[That scene] sort of let everybody know, maybe one of the first ever windows behind the scenes where you could see what the top fight pro wrestlers actually do. You can call it fake, but there’s nothing fake happening, like, it’s just orchestrated, or at least, there’s a predetermined outcome. But the fu*king physicality, it’s bananas.”

Here, Hogan also opened up about this exact scene, where during the shoot, he managed to badly injure Stallone’s collarbone by mistake.
