During the interview, Al Pacino revealed that he had been offered a lot of money for these substandard roles. “Sometimes they offer you money to do something that’s not adequate. And you talk yourself into it. And somewhere within you, you know that this thing is gonna be a lemon. But then, when it comes full circle, and you see it, you say, ‘Oh, no. I’m gonna make this better.’ It’s an impulse that I’ve got to just put that away now. Every time I get the urge to exercise, I lie down till it passes.”

The Irishmanturned out to be a critical success upon its limited theatrical release and subsequent Netflix streaming release. The film earned theSimoneactor an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.The Recruitactor also played the real-life character Aldo Gucci in the 2021 biographical crime drama,House of Gucci.
