Oscar-Winning actor Tom Hanks has established his foothold in the Hollywood industry with his award-winning performances throughout his career. However, even after being a part of some major films, Hanks was never very confident about the fate of his movies.
Previously, when the actor appeared in the Academy Award-winning filmForrest Gump, he was skeptical about the success of the movie. However, the movie turned out to be iconic.
Tom Hanks was skeptical about his Oscar-winning film
Handling any major project isn’t an easy task. Even Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks felt overwhelmed after being a part of one such major project of his acting career. Hanks has been a part of the iconic filmForrest Gump, which secured its place in the list of Oscar-winning films. The film was well acclaimed by critics and will undoubtedly be remembered as Hank’s best film to date.
However, before its release, Hanks wasn’t sure about the fate of the film. Previously, during an interview, Hanks shared that he was always worried about his career, following his appearance inForrest Gump. Living in the realm of speculation, Hank asked the film’s director, Robert Zemeckis,
“I say, ‘Hey Bob, I’ve got a question for you. Is anybody going to care about this movie?’ ‘This guy sitting on a thing in these goofy shoes and this cuckoo suit with a suitcase full of Curious George books and stuff like that. Are we doing anything here that is going to make any sense to anybody?’”

Hanks clearly didn’t see the forthcoming success of the film, as he became very doubtful about the film. He said,
“We may be sowing the seeds of our own destruction. Any footstep we take can be a bouncing Betty that’ll blow our nuts right off.”
However, to Hanks’ surprise, his fear never came true, as the film turned out to be the best film of its time.Forrest Gumpwon many awards for his performance. Hanks won the Best Actor Academy Award, and the film was voted Best Picture.

What is Tom Hanks doing these days?
After starring in some massive hit films, Tom Hanks has shifted the wheel of his career towards writing novels. The actor-turned-writer recently covered his life experience and compiled it in a novel namedThe Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece.
Hanks’ novel is based on his on-screen experience, in which he focused on the process of making a film. During an interview with a news outlet, Hanks explained that churning out the details was never hard for him as he“got anecdotes galore.”
Hanks’ novel was released on July 16, 2025.
