Sean Connerymade his debut as James Bond inDr. Noin 1962. The film had a scene where James Bond introduces himself to the character of Sylvia Trench played by Eunice Gayson. Connery introduces himself saying the famous trademark introduction of the character“Bond, James Bond”.According to Express UK, this was not the line that was written in the script and Connery made an improvisation and made up the now iconic catchphrase of the character.
In the script, the line that was written was“I am James Bond”.However, Connery felt that the line lacked a certain punch and decided to improvise and change the lines to put more charisma and charm into it. He even improvised the bit where the character pauses after saying his last name and again revealing his full name. This small improvisation would create history as it became a significant signature introductory catchphrase for every Bond movie that came after it.
