Famous for portraying Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Samuel L Jackson does not shy away from speaking his mind. And in a recent interview,The Bankeractor shed light on the departure of director Thomas Bezucha from the highly anticipated Disney+ series,Secret Invasion. Revealing that Bezucha quit the project the day after his initial meeting with him, the news leaves Ali Selim as the sole director for the entire six-part event series. Hence raising the question – did Jackson scare Bezucha away?

Trying to figure out what went wrong, a fun-loving Jackson detailed his amusement with the director’s departure in a recent interview.

During the promotional interview withCollider,Samuel L Jacksonhumorously recounted the incident, stating,

“Interestingly enough when I first started Secret Invasion, Ali [Selim] was one of two directors. And I met with him (Selim) and then I met with the other director, and the next day the other director (Bezucha) had quit.”

And chiming in with her sense of humor,Olivia Colman, Jackson’s co-star in the series, playfully suggested that Jackson might have scared off Bezucha away. To which Jackson replied,

“I had no idea what I said to him. I asked my assistant, ‘Did I say something that scared him or what?'”

However, in hindsight, Jackson expressed gratitude for the outcome, as having a single director provided consistency of vision for the show. Selim’s involvement in directing all the episodes allowed him to shape the series according to his desired concept, while still incorporating input from the cast. Jackson emphasized the significance of this consistency and the opportunity to create a continuous and constant narrative forSecret Invasion.

The upcoming live-action series,Secret Invasion,joins the ranks of other successful Marvel Disney+ series, such asWandaVision,The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, andLoki,which were helmed by directors Matt Shakman, Kate Herron, and Kari Skogland, respectively.
