Margot Robbie Almost Quit Acting Because of Martin Scorsese’sThe Wolf Of Wall Street
Margot Robbiehas revealed that she almost quit acting after her “awful” experience of fame that came after appearing inThe Wolf Of Wall Street.
She played the mistress-turned-wife of Jordan Belfort, a role that turned her into a global star. The Australian actor shared her experience withVanity Fairafter starring in Martin Scorsese’s film alongside Leonardo DiCaprio at just the age of 22:

“Something was happening in those early stages, and it was all pretty awful.”
Robbie continued that her mother’s words played an important role in motivating her to keep going:

“I remember saying to my mom, ‘I don’t think I want to do this.’ And she just looked at me, completely straight-faced, and was like, ‘Darling, I think it’s too late not to.’ That’s when I realized the only way was forward.”
That’s not it. She struggled with paparazzi and the invasion of privacy that came with fame, expressing concern for her as well as the safety of her loved ones.

Handling Celebrity Status Was a Complex Task for Margot Robbie
Despite all the fame, Margot Robbie admitted that being a celebrity is not a piece of cake. One of the first things that she really struggled with was dealing with those pesky paparazzi. She also struggled with nosy media attention and constant sensationalized news headlines — which weren’t even sometimes true. The actress said in the same interview withVanity Fair:
“I know how to go through airports, and now I know who’s trying to f*** me over in what ways.”
The star admitted that she figured out ways to handle this attention but still gets jitters with being in the limelight. She explained:
“The way I try to explain this job—and this world—to people is that the highs are really high, and the lows are really, really low. And I guess if you’re lucky, it all balances out in the middle.”
The invasion of paps in her personal space for a quick pic or headline annoys Robbie. She thinks it’s frustrating and risky, as it highlights the risks that celebrities deal with in their daily lives.
