Warning: MajorJujutsu KaisenSeason 2 Episode 20 Spoilers Ahead!!!
Jujutsu Kaisenis one of the most famous and biggest fan-favorite manga and anime of all time, and Yuji Itadori lies at the center of this stardom. Even though he is the vessel of the King of Curses, i.e. Ryomen Sukuna, fans still like the Itadori for his exceptional personality and how he manages to control Sukuna and doesn’t let him take over his body without his permission most of the time despite being his vessel.
However, as connected as Sukuna is to Itadori, there is one other villain in the series whose qualities and features are more similar and overlap with that of the main protagonist of the manga series: the immature cursed spirit, Mahito.

Fans have been buzzing with excitement ever since Aoi Todo and Yuji Itadori teamed up once again for a face-off against Mahito for the recently released episode 20 titledRight and Wrong Part 3ofJujutsu KaisenSeason 2.

But while the episode brought together one of the most anticipated duos of the entire series, it also brought forward a narrative that inevitably drew a parallel to the heroic and villainous characters, i.e. Itadori and Mahito.
As pointed out by none other than the cursed spirit himself, both characters share a strikingly common tendency in their innate instincts: while Mahito instinctively takes lives without contemplating, Yuji Itadori reflexively saves people without thinking twice.

This came after the immature cursed spirit sent a powerful blow to an overwhelmed-with-helplessness Itadori, who found his fighting spirit shattered with the death of both Nobara Kugisaki as well as Nanami Kento at the hands of Mahito, by declaring:
“You are me, Yuji Itadori.”

As the protagonist and his arch-nemesis stand on opposite battlegrounds, the latter highlights the several innate instincts that they share including how Itadori never counted the lives he ended up saving out of instinct while Mahito never kept track of the lives he took without a second thought.
Asserting all of these facts to be mirrored parallel natures, Mahito calls this instinctive behavior a reflection of a battle of morals and beliefs, with the only one prevailing being the one whose set of ideas will come out on top: saving people without a second thought or killing them uncountably.

Yet, as similar as Yuji Itadori could be to his arch-nemesis Mahito, theJujutsu Kaisenprotagonist-antagonist pair couldn’t be more different than each other either.

How Itadori Differs Vividly From Mahito At The Same Time
Although both the characters’ habits of acting on their instincts make their innate nature more similar than fans have ever noticed before,Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Yuji Itadori and Mahito differ by a wide range at the same time as well.
While one saves lives effortlessly, the other takes them instinctively—the very thing that is also the core difference between them.
Furthermore, as is the nature of MangakaGege Akutamito perfectly capture the difference between human beings and cursed spirits, episode 20 of season 2 of the anime does just that by skillfully capturing the essence of both comparability as well as dissimilarity between the characters.
Perhaps, this depiction of vividly illustrating both the resemblance and contrast between the hero and his archenemy at the same timeiswhat setsJujutsu Kaisenapart from every other anime and manga.
