While the upcoming flick was already suffering from a bad early reception, this backlash by the fans in favor of Emma Fuhrmann presents a more concerning fate for it.

Ant-Man 3titledQuantumaniawas supposed to kickstart Phase 5 after the lackluster performance of Phase 4. While the whole cast retained their roles from the earlier MCU projects, Emma Fuhrmann’s story is different.

Why didn’t Emma Fuhrmann return inAnt-Man 3?
Recast and Marvel is not a new combination as earlier also we have witnessed the popular cases of Edward Norton and Terrence Howard. Emma Fuhrmann joined the list when the studio revealed that theAvengers: Endgameversion of Cassie Lang won’t return for theAnt-Manthreequel. Marvel never revealed any official reason but it is obvious that they wanted a bigger name to helm the role.
It is repeatedly stated by the makers that Cassie Lang will have a very important part in the story ofAnt-Man 3.We will get to watch Stature for the first time in the MCU and it is evident that the studio is heading towards preparing the new Avengers comprised of these youngsters.Kathryn Newton‘s track record of big performances played a major part as Marvel wanted to make the character of Cassie Lang more important.

But despite everything, the fans are widely disappointed at the decision. What fueled the controversy, even more, was the lack of any prior information about the recast to Fuhrmann. The actress took to her Twitter to announce that similar to the fans, she also got the news during the official announcement. AsAnt-Man 3is almost on the big screens, the fans have once again raised their voice against this unfair decision by the studio.

The fans come in support of Emma Fuhrmann
The role of Cassie Lang was helmed by Abby Ryder Fortson in the first twoAnt-Manmovies. But the time jump shown inAvengers: Endgamepresented an elder version of the character played by Emma Fuhrmann. Even though she had very little screen time in that movie, the fans were not at all happy to hear the news of the recast.
Before you see Quantumania this weekend, just remember that Emma Furhmann, Cassie’s actress from Endgame, was robbed of the chance of a lifetime and found out about it the exact same way we all did – through the announcement on social media. They didn’t even tell her.pic.twitter.com/T4G45hW1W8

Now the fans have taken over the Internet to voice their opinion on how unfair it was to recast Fuhrmann without any prior knowledge. But interestingly, the debate has even got hotter as the early reviews of thePaul Ruddmovie revealed a disappointing performance by theDetective Pikachuactress. We have collected a few tweets.
Emma Furhmann learned she was recasted through social media.
Tom Holland learned he would be Spider-Man through Instagram.
Anthony Mackie learned he would be Captain America through Chris Evans while watching football.
The low communication Marvel gives its actors is just sad.

That’s awful. And Fuhrmann’s replacement in Quantumania, Kathryn Newton, isn’t very good in the part.

Kathryn Newton is cool and all but it was pretty scummy of Marvel to not even tell the original actor she was being replaced.

Yeah that was a pretty mean move. They shouldn’t of recast her, but since they did the least they could of done is told her before hand
— Pigwars (Uniman Finished!) (@Pigwars2)July 05, 2025
Disgusting behaviour from Marvel. Could have told her at least personally first before announcing her sacking
