One of the greatest franchises in Hollywood, the originalStar Warstrilogy is revered by the sci-fi sphere. Spanning from 1977 to 1983, the three films kickstarted a franchise of a lifetime. Even decades after the trilogy concluded, it still finds a way into modern conversations. Since it was based on the battle between the Jedi and the Siths, it was a task to completely rule out violence from the series. However, lead actor Mark Hamill once expressed his disapproval of one such scene depicting cruelty.
Hamill took to Twitter and expressed his thoughts on a scene with the snowy creature Wampa, from the second installment,The Empire Strikes Back.He explained being unaware of how the original cut would wind up. But after years of the movie’s release, Hamill critiqued it as being too violent and something that does not relate to his character Luke Skywalker’s morals.

Mark Hamill is upset about cruelty towards Wampa
Mark Hamillhas consistently been portrayed as the leading protagonist of the entireStar Warsfranchise. Luke Skywalker, initially a common human male evolved into a legendary Jedi Master of the galaxy, fighting in the Galactic Civil War. However, after he was captured by the Wampa he had to utilize his physical prowess over his heroic powers to escape.
Therefore, in the scene where Luke frees himself from Wampa’s capture, he does so by chopping off the creature’s arm. The climax scene featured him swinging his lightsaber to injure the Wampa badly and escape from its cave. Later on, when Hamill saw the original cut he was baffled by the violence. Nevertheless, in 2017, the 72-year-old actor shared a post on Twitter explaining his standpoint on the violent scene,
“When filming scene I was assured my lightsaber swipe toward camera (creature not on set) would simply singe fur 2 scare him off-Horrified to later see amputation & unnecessary cruelty-Wampa was HUNGRY (not EVIL)-Luke would never do this! #StillAngry2017”

Hamill had expected that the lightsaber attack would simply breeze past the creature, scaring him away. But its entire arm getting cut off was a fact that didn’t sit well with the actor.

What happened to Luke Skywalker?
Luke starts off as a farm boy from a humble family in Tatooine, in the original trilogy. Eventually, he becomes a Jedi, the greatest in fact, and is involved in a battle against The Empire. He is accompanied byHarrison Ford’s Han Solo and Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia, who give birth to their evil son Kylo Ren a.k.a Ben Solo. In the third installment,Return of the Jedi,Luke continues to re-establish the Jedi in the galaxy, also training new ones.
However, his attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order fails, and his nephew Ben Solo leans toward the Dark Side. Consequently, Luke moves to Ahch-To, living as a hermit, perCBR. The Ahch-To is the place where the first Jedi temple was located. Living his final days in solitary, Luke dies and joins the Force as a Force ghost.
