League of Legendsis one of the most popular eSports titles. The MOBA game has been popular since it was released in 2013, inspired byDOTAwhich was developed by Valve. SinceLeague of Legendsis a competitive title, it has competitive tournaments up to the highest echelon.

Four-time World Champions, team T1 won League of Legends Worlds 2023.

At Worlds 2023, the eSports title’s world tournament broke records as it emerged as the most-watched eSports tournament in history. The medium to watch the tournament was the popular streaming website, Twitch. The team that was crowned as world champion was South Korea’s T1, which established dominance over China-based Weibo Gaming.

The team has two divisions:ValorantandLoL. The team’sLeague of Legendsdivision is home to one of the most if not the most popular eSports personality,  Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. The team also includes Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, and Kim “Sky” Ha-neul. The team had a near-perfect run after it won three consecutive rounds in Seoul on Sunday.

League of Legends Worlds 2023 Shatters Record as Most-Watched Esports Tournament as Team T1 is Crowned Champions for the Fourth Time at Seoul

If it wasn’t already established earlier,League of Legends’dominance in the eSports scene was fortified as it reached a new milestone at the Worlds 2023 tournament. The tournament’s broadcast on Twitch was buzzing with views as news broke out of Faker and T1 making it to the finals.

In terms of concurrent viewers, the finals for League of Legends Worlds 2023 clocked at an earth-shattering 6.4 million peak. With this, it became the most-watched eSports tournament of all time as per eSports Charts.

The final forLeague of LegendsWorlds 2023 occurred in Seoul, South Korea. South Korea’s eSports giant T1 was crowned winner who defeated China’s Weibo Gaming. The team’s most popular star, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok was ecstatic when the team secured the win. The team won three consecutive rounds in the final. The team emerged victorious for the fourth time in theLeague of LegendsWorld Championship.

This is historic for the tournament as well asLeague of Legends. WhileLeague of Legendsis at the top as per the eSports charts in 2023, which is1.4 million viewers aheadofMobile Legends: Bang Bang,a mobile game.

Third place is secured byCounter-Strikewith 1.5 million viewers coming in at third place in 2023. Since the margin is a very significant one. It will be interesting to see if any other eSports title can be within touching distance of the record.

League of Legends came out 14 years ago in October 2009. The game is still amassing a player count of1.3 Millionspeaks for itself. This proves that the individuals who are invested in the game not only enjoy playing it but also watching it!

There is yet to be a game that has reached the success reached byLeague of Legends.Not just in the MOBA genre but also in general. There are also upcoming MOBA games likeSuper Buckyball Tournament,HypeSquad,and others that look promising.

But in all fairness, we know thatLeague of Legendswill go down in history as the gold standard in MOBA games. While the first well-known MOBA game wasDOTA.League of Legendswhich came much later, borrowed some of the same elements and still managed to come out on top..

The game is also developerRiot Games‘ most profitable game which, in 2021 alone, generated a whopping 1.75 Billion Dollars in revenue. It is estimated that the company earns30 Dollars a second with microtransactions. League of Legends can be played for free on PC and OS X.
