Kirsten Dunstrevealed in an interview how her brutal experience after filming Sofia Coppola’sMarie Antoinetteaffected her performance in her lastSpider-Manmovie. Dunst, who starred as Mary Jane Watson alongsideTobey Maguire(Peter Parker), said:
“I was in a lot of pain while I was making Spider-Man 3. Afterwards, I was done with acting. I was so sick of giving myself to other people because I had nothing in my life that was all mine.”

TheJumanjiactress opened up that her 2006 film,Marie Antoinettewas a major reason why she faced so much pain. The historical drama didn’t receive the kind of response Coppola and Dunst anticipated. Not only this but she got booed for her performance. Dunst felt like“everyone was stamping”on her.

Despite Marie Antoinette’s negative reception, Dunst’s career didn’t go for a toss, instead continued to flourish. But when she returned to acting, she wanted to do it her way. She shared that having grown up in the spotlight, she learned to resent how the“film industry was shaping”her as a person. Dunst said:
“It’s not a natural way to grow up, and acting was never a dream for me because it had always been a part of me. It was the only thing I knew –it was just my life.”
