Keanu Reeves is experiencing enormous success with theJohn Wickfranchise.John Wick: Chapter 4has already grossed upwards of $250 million and is poised to earn more. The actor is also a social media darling with many loving him for his charitable deeds. As such, while his fans are ecstatic overJohn Wick’ssuccess, many want him to join the MCU and play a superhero.

In 2019, Kevin Feige confirmed that they had talks with the action star about joining the MCU. However, nothing has materialized as of yet since Reeves is supposedly waiting for the right role to play. Thankfully, the star already knows which superhero he wants to portray. However, there’s a little problem. That hero is already played by another actor for about two decades.
Keanu Reeves Wants To Play A Clawed Marvel Superhero
During a Reddit AMA,Keanu Reeveswas asked if there were any roles he regretted turning down. To this, the star replied that he doesn’t have any regrets about the roles he has rejected. But then he said that he has always wanted to play Wolverine. Reeves said,“…No…but I did always want to play Wolverine.”Some fans took this statement to mean that he hasn’t been offered the role, and how could he, after all, Hugh Jackman has been playing Logan for more than 20 years now.

Also, he will portray the character in his first MCU appearance. However, it looks like Marvel Studios does want to work with Keanu Reeves because, in a 2021 Comic Book interview,The Matrixstar revealed that he had meetings with Marvel boss Kevin Feige. But nothing has been fixed concretely. Reeves said“We haven’t yet. We have met, and [Kevin Feige]’s a cool cat. Yeah. But no, we don’t have anything, gotta find something.”
Whatever role theSpeedstar will play in the MCU, it’s probably not going to be the Wolverine shortly. However, it will be interesting to see Reeves have a shot at playing the clawed hero if Jackman vacates the role.

Who Will Play Wolverine After Hugh Jackman?
Hugh Jackmanhas played Logan/ Wolverine since 2000, starting with Fox’sX-Men. He thought that he ended his run as the character with 2017’s critically acclaimed movieLogan. However, thankfully, that wasn’t the end. He will now portray the character again inDeadpool 3, where he will star with Ryan Reynolds.
It’s rumored that Jackman’s comeback is actually meant to give fans of the character closure before someone else wears those claws again for a long tenure in the MCU. Names like Taron Egerton and Daniel Radcliffe have been floated as possible candidates who can play the troubled hero. But Egerton confirmed in an interview with Total Film that he isn’t going to play the character.

“I am not going to be the guy to play Wolverine. There are no signs pointing towards that being the thing.”

As for Daniel Radcliffe, he said in an interview with the Phase Zero podcast about him playing Wolverine,“That’s not a thing, and that’s not happening.”So when Jackman’s run ends, maybe Keanu Reeves can step in. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
John Wick: Chapter 4is now playing in theaters, andDeadpool 3will be released on 13 June 2025.
