Adding to the list of failed DC projects, Warner Bros. Discovery has canceled J.J. Abram’sConstantineTV show. It was announced in 2020 that J.J. Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot, would be developing a whole new slate of series for DC’s supernatural heroes, beginning with a John Constantine show and wrapping it up with a Justice League Dark crossover. Following a production fraught with troubles, it seems the Hellblazer Max series has been officially scrapped.
However, anotherConstantineproject is on the way which will be a sequel to the 2005 film starring Keanu Reeves and this brings a lot of excitement among fans who are desperately waiting to see what Keanu Reeves will do with his role in this sequel.

Keanu Reeves’ConstantineSequel Will Soon Be a Reality
AsKeanu Reevesand director Francis Lawrence currently developing aConstantinesequel for the studio, it makes sense that theConstantineseries is no longer going forward.
Four scripts were written for the series and even talks with the lead actor were also going on, but then again it’sJ.J. Abrams‘ bad luck that Max canceled the show, as perVarietyreport.
But, Keanu Reeves will reunite with Lawrence to bring Hellblazer back to the big screen with the much-anticipated sequel to the 2005 film, which earned $230.9 million at the worldwide box office.
Director Francis Lawrence shared a new insight on this sequel while speaking withGameSport:
“So Constantine 2 got obviously held up by the writers’ strike. And we had to jump through a bunch of hurdles to get control of the character again, because other people had control of the Vertigo stuff. We have control.”
“Keanu and Akiva Goldsman and I have been in meetings and have been hashing out what we think the story is going to be, and there’s more meetings of those that have to happen–the script has to be written–but really hoping that we get to do Constantine 2 and make a real rated R version of it.”
The plot of theConstantinesequel is being kept under wraps. But it can be a piece of good news for Reeves as the sequel might be set outside the DC Universe.

Why TheConstantineShow May Have Been Scrapped?
The show was supposed to be a part of a universe focused onJustice League Dark. The project was going to be “a departure from the NBC series.”
But even after writing scripts for the show and having conversations with the lead actor, Max has canceled it. Per Variety,
“The new show had been far enough into development that a lead actor was already in talks to take on the lead role, but sources [confirm] to Variety that the Max project [is] dead. Four scripts were written for the series, which was set in contemporary London.”
However, to know the exact reason why it’s been scrapped, there’s no way to wait and hear it directly from the creative team. Until then, it’s just speculation.
