The world ofJujutsu Kaisenrecently lost another one of its most important characters with the death of Nobara Kugisaki in the latest episode. Considering the reactions of fans upon seeing Kugisaki’s death in the most recent episode, it was clear that she quickly became one of the most prominent female characters inJujutsu Kaisen.

It was completely unexpected and had no warning that Nobara would die. There has been speculation among fans that Gege Akutami may have a secret weapon that would allow her to return, but nothing concrete has been revealed as of yet. A flashback to her previous life and the symbolic meaning of chairs, which in a way represented her life, was used to highlight her death.

It’s possible, though, that many of her admirers were blind to the significance of the empty chairs in her life. However, those chairs served a deep meaning and were a metaphor for her life and how she lived it. It also signified the friendships and ties she had in the series.

Nobara Kugisaki’s Death inJujutsu Kaisen

Yuji and Nobara battled the curse of Mahito head-on during the Shibuya incident. Mahito divided into two halves and took on Yuji and Nobara one at a time. Nobara was the ideal opponent for Mahito because of her cursed technique, which allowed her to attack her opponents’ souls through severed body parts.

As soon as the curse realized this, he substituted the place of his double. Itadori immediately realized Mahito’s plan but It was already too late by the time he gave Nobara the warning to escape. By switching places with his double and taking her by surprise, Mahito was able to execute his sneak attack.

Nobara let her guard down because she was desperate to beat Mahito and didn’t realize the duplicate was the original body. Mahito grabbed hold of her and touched her, taking advantage of Nobara’s confusion and activating his technique. Nobara’s side of the head blew up with Idle Transfiguration. But before her death, fans witnessed a flashback and some chairs which left them clueless. However, these chairs have a deep meaning.

The Meaning Behind the Chairs in Nobara’s Consciousness

When Nobara’s flashback is queued in the anime, fans witness a bunch of chairs that are all empty except some of them filled with her friends from her current life and her childhood. Those chairs had a deep meaning to them.

As she imagined them sitting among the empty chairs she had created, the people she met in jujutsu high managed to effortlessly become a part of her life, despite her very clear expectations and standards for the people she meets. She says she doesn’t regret leaving home and that it wasn’t that horrible because the right people found her despite her walls and standards.

She hoped that the people she met in the future would somehow fill the chairs although it would be a tough job, but in reality, the people she met in her life were something out of the ordinary as they not only were capable of filling those seats, they managed to bring their chairs and form a place in her life removing all the walls and other seats she developed.
