Renowned actor Hayden Christensen was one of the few lucky people who get to play a major role in their favorite film, series, or franchise as a whole. For him, it was theStar Warsfranchise that he really wanted to have a part in. Lucky for him, not only did he play one of the most crucial characters in the saga, but also got the most famous for that same role.
Yet, none of that comes even close to his reaction to finding out that he had been selected to get cast into theStar Warsfranchise: even if it meant playing the lead villain in the science fiction saga, Darth Vader!

While Hayden Christensen’s performance as Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader on the big screen was truly magnificent, what was more epic was his reaction to the news of his casting into theStar Warsfranchise.
Appearing in an interview withVanity Fair, the actor shared the same. He said:
“I was living in Vancouver at the time. I was renting an apartment with a good friend of mine. He knew that I was up for this role and I was gonna be finding out soon.”
Christensen then revealed how unprepared he was when he received that call bearing the news that he got the job.
“I got the phone call when I was still in bed, actually. I remember coming out of the room, just like an ear-to-ear grin on my face and my roommate looked at me and he was like, ‘Is that, you know, is that smile what I think it is?’ And then, so I lit up an imaginary lightsaber, you know.”
Making light saber buzzing sound, he continued to share his friend’s reaction to his reaction:
“And immediately he got it and then he ran over to his record player and he had a Star Wars soundtrack and he put the Star Wars soundtrack on and then he lit up his imaginary light saber, and we had a whole light saber battle as we were laughing and jumping all over the couch and apartment. It was a very exciting time for me.”
Now that’s a truly epic reaction!

Hayden Christensen Shared His Take On HisStar WarsCharacter
Hayden Christensennot only did an immaculate job at playing Darth Vader in the newer content from theStar Warsfranchise, but he did it so terrifically that he is now most well known through the same role. Sharing his take on his character, he continued to say in the interview:
“Jedi Knight – never a Jedi Master – turned Darth Vader: Lord of the Sith. A very complex character. he has a strong sort of desire for power. There’s also a lot of inner conflict and there’s certainly an inner sort of struggle of identity.”
When asked to share the most memorable moment in his eyes of playing Anakin Skywalker, he said:
“It’s really hard to pick just one. There were a number of scenes that were very memorable. At the end of episode three, when the Darth Vader helmet comes down and he’s officially encapsulated in the suit, that for me was a very big moment, and I remember that very well.”
Continuing, Christensen explained:
“At the time, it felt like sort of completion for my journey with the character, you know. I was playing Anakin and then when he becomes Darth Vader, that’s sort of… right? But now I’ve gotten to come back and continue my journey with the character, but at the time it signified that my job was done. Little did I know.”
Irrespective of whatever it might be, fans truly love Hayden Christensen’s perfect portrayal of Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader, and hope to see him in the character for quite some time as well!
