Elizabeth Olsen Looking For Fresh Roles Outside MCU
In a conversation with The Times of London ahead of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike,Elizabeth Olsendiscussed her prospects within the MCU. She subtly indicated her readiness for fresh roles, expressing a desire to diversify her resume after predominantly working on Marvel projects in the past few years.
“I’m trying to figure out…Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel,”Olsen said. “I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance.”
Olsen firmly established herself as a fixture in the MCU through her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, the renegade former Avenger renowned for her reality-altering abilities and mastery of chaos magic. Having embodied this character inWandaVisionand the Doctor Strange sequel, Olsen believes it’s time to seek new horizons, resisting the confinement of being defined by a single role.
“I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character.”
Olsen has previously voiced her aspirations to explore roles beyond the realm of Marvel projects as well.

Elizabeth Olsen Doesn’t Miss Playing Scarlet Witch
Back in June, during an interview with Variety, she expressed that she doesn’t long for the days of portraying Scarlet Witch and doesn’t feel the need to quickly return to that role.
“I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her. And I’ve loved it. And I think the reason why I am not calling [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do. I think WandaVision was a really surprising opportunity. If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made.”
Furthermore, she offered advice to actors considering involvement in the MCU, suggesting that they initially commit to just one film. This approach allows them to assess whether Marvel aligns with their preferences and provides greater influence over their project choices.
