However, the Oscar winner was unsure about playing a princess in her feature film debut, as she later shared that she had difficulty channeling her character while filming the 2001 film.

“I was woken up by the call that I got it, and I was so happy because I really wanted this role. It was really a dream come true,”she once toldEntertainment Tonight. However, the actress had never dreamed of becoming a princess before that.“I never wanted to be a princess,”she said in an interview withCollider.
So, she decided to focus on the“psychological torture”that her character had to endure throughout the movie, as she had to come to terms with something that she wasn’t even ready for. This led the actress to focus on her character’s self-identity and personal growth rather than wanting to be a princess.

A third installment inThe Princess Diarieshas been in talks for a while, and its lead star has said that she is thrilled with the excitement surroundingThe Princess Diaries 3. Anne Hathaway reprised her role in the sequel that was released almost two decades ago in 2004.
There have been talks about a threequel, with recent rumors suggesting that it would follow a Gen Z biracial teen starring Zendaya. The movie is reportedly under development, andThe Hustlestar also talked about a potential threequel earlier this year. During an interview withPeople, she said that she is thrilled to “see the level of excitement for it.”

She said about the nearly two decades of delay in the threequel,“We feel the exact same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating.” Aadrita Mukerji is reportedly working onThe Princess Diaries 3screenplay. While Hathaway is also alleged to be associated with the project, no official remarks have been made about it so far.
