Gerard Butler, a 54-year-old Scottish actor has starred in numerous movies, Butler managed to impress his fans with his consistent and genuine efforts. The star has been featured in a wide genre of movies. The actor has made headlines in the past for his on-set accidents and here is the new addition to that list. This time the actor opened up and shared how he literally burned his face with acid while shooting his filmPilot.

Gerard Butler Shares How He Washed his Face With Acid
During an interview onLate Night With Seth Meyers,300actor shared how he ended up rubbing his face with acid. During the shooting ofa key sequel for the moviePlane, Butler accidentally rubbed his face with acid.
“No matter what I’m doing, I manage to hurt myself. Trying to find something that’s wrong with the plane before we can take off for this final sequence. It’s something in the wheel, so it’s a brake. Now, I’m sticking my hand between these two wheels, kind of pretending that I know what I’m doing in there, you know? Every time I bring my hands out, they’re covered in blood and green fluid, right? And I’m like, ‘I don’t know what this green fluid is’. Now I’m sticking my hand between these two wheels, kind of pretending that I know what I’m doing. TheUgly Truthstar went ahead admitting that he is ‘naturally clumsy’. The actor mentioned how the heat of Puerto Rico aided in worsening the situation by covering theLast Seen Aliveactor in sweat and how he was wiping his face with acid over and over. The actor recalled wiping his face unintentionally and transferring the acid to his face.
“I’m rubbing my face and, suddenly, it’s in my throat. It’s in my mouth. It’s up my nose. It’s in my eyes. It’s burning my face and I mean burning. It turns out that this is essentially phosphoric acid. The airline pilots that were there watching go, ‘No!’. So, I’m just like burning alive. It was intense, and it actually burned for hours, but it was great for the scene.”

Gerard Butler’s Accident History
The300actor has quite a history of accidents. This accident happened five years after Butler’s 2017 motorcycle accident in 2017 in Los Angeles. The actor accepted that he was admitted to the hospital thrice in that same year. In an interview, Butler revealed that he is a fan of risky behavior. Prior to that, Butler had another encounter with a life-threatening accident back in 2012 while surfing during a shoot. The actor still recalls being pulled underwater and dragged over to the shores of North Carolina during the shooting of the surf movieOf Men and Mavericks.

Thankfully fan-favorite star has been safe even after his encounter with several life-threatening accidents. The actor’s new moviePilotwas released on July 28, 2025, along with the cast of Mike Colter, Lily Krug, Yoson An, and many more. The story revolves around a pilot named Brodie Torrance, played by Butler, who tries to save his passengers who were crash-landed on an island by lightning. Following the crash, most of the surviving passengers were taken hostage by the dangerous rebels. The story depicts the struggle and journey of the pilot as our main protagonist trying to save his passengers.
