The Simpsons:Hit and Runis one of the popular video games that hit the Internet in the 2000s. Released in 2003, it quickly gained a significant cult following but despite that, it never got a sequel or a remastered version. Given its popularity, many fans wondered as to why Radical Entertainment halted to further develop it. Now, that fans have a ‘bizarre’ answer to their curiosity, they couldn’t help but feel enraged as this treatment feels quite similar to what DC projects faced.

In a recent interview, people involved in the making ofThe Simpsons: Hit and Runaddressed what happened to its sequels. This has surely ticked off many devoted fans!

DuringMinnmax‘s interview,The Simpsons: Hit and Runprogrammers, designers, and producers who were involved in the project explained that a sequel was indeed in development after the success of the 2003 game before it was eventually scrapped. Executive producer, John Melchior revealed that his boss was equally confused when it they decided not to go forward with the same.

“It was a five game deal for less money than I think Vivendi paid for the first game…He was just like, ‘I don’t understand. I gave it to you on a silver platter, why aren’t you just saying yes and doing these games?’ It was just a really bizarre decision. I’ll never understand it. Most people on the production level never understood it.”

Since, Vivendi Universal Games, the publisher ofThe Simpsons: Hit and Run, was unable to secure the license due to undisclosed reasons, it eventually led to the company leaving the project overall.The Simpsonsgame had different sequels in the early phases of discussion but nothing much came out of it. As Vivendi was far behind in getting the license, EA grabbed the opportunity that crushed any expectations left forThe Simpsons: Hit and Runsequel.

It is quite similar to what Warner Bros Discovery did to their DC projects which had a great scope to perform well among the fans.

After AT&T’s WarnerMedia merged with Discovery in 2022 in a $43 billion deal, many DC projects had to face major changes. One of the shocking changes was the scrapping of theBatgirlproject which was completely finished to hit HBO Max at the end of 2022.

The unreleased movie was reportedly removed during a financial shakeup at the company which starred an ensemble cast featuring Leslie Grace in the main role of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. Meanwhile,Michael Keatonas Batman, and Brendan Fraser as the antagonist, Firefly was also present in it.Batgirlis just one example as several projects never saw the light of day in the superhero studio.

EvenAquaman‘s spin-off,The Trenchwas announced to add to the franchise but it met the same fate. Warner Bros announced that the studio would not be going forward with the same.
