Sometimes, actors tend to do quite extreme transformations to fit particular roles and Mark Wahlberg is no different in this, having a reputation for going above and beyond for his roles.

Mark Wahlberg’s 2022 Movie Proved To Be Quite The Challenge
Mark Wahlbergstarred inFather Stu, a biopic about an ex-boxer turned priest. For this movie, the actor was required to have a fighter’s physique for half of it and be quite healthy for the other half.
“I’m playing a guy who was a fighter—he was many things. He was a fighter, he moved to L.A. to become an actor, he fell in love with a girl, he had an accident, he had an outer-body spiritual experience, and he decided to become a priest.”He added,“He died of a rare disease, IBM, but he had a big impact on a lot of people in a very short amount of time.”

The character that Wahlberg played was a real person, Stuart Long, who had a real impact on the people around him and left his own mark on the world after his death, as Wahlberg told Jimmy Kimmel. The actor wanted to give his all to the role and the proved to be quite taxing for him physically.

Mark Wahlberg Had Fun Gaining Weight ForFather Stu
Mark Wahlberg talked about how after the scenes requiring him to be fit were gone, he enjoyed quite a bit as he had to gain as much weight as he could during the span of the shooting of the movie.
“After we do the boxing scenes, I get to put on as much weight as possible over the course of the film, so I’m challenging myself to put on 30 pounds in the next six weeks.”He stated,“They want me to do it as healthy as possible. I’m like, ‘Dude, I’ve been on such a regimen for so long, I just want to eat everything in sight.’ I want to go to bakeries, I want to go to Denny’s, I want to get pancakes. I want to get everything that I could possibly get my hands on.”

The actor revealed that he had set a goal for himself to gain at least 30 pounds in six weeks, which would obviously be a challenge. It would however seem that Wahlberg was much more excited about this than one might think.
