The show centered around a fictional suburb and dealt with the everyday lives of the residents. It is the longest-running drama series in Australia, having been on air since 1985.

Margot Robbie moved from Queensland to Melbourne when she was seventeen to pursue an acting career. When she reached Melbourne, Robbie contacted casting director Jan Russ, who called her for an audition when she learned the actress’ age. The casting director was reportedly looking for a seventeen-year-old to play a new character.

Robbie made her first appearance as Donna Freedman in 2008 and slowly became one of the show’s most popular characters. She was loved by fans of the show as well as her co-stars. She was nominated for several awards for her portrayal. Robbie left the show in 2011, hoping to make it big in Hollywood. She made a cameo appearance in the series finale in 2022.Neighborshas also launched other Australian actors who would later on make it big in Hollywood such as Guy Pearce, Kylie Minogue, Russell Crowe, and the Hemsworth brothers.

Since her departure from the soap operaNeighbors, actress Margot Robbie has gained resounding success in Hollywood. While she made a noted appearance in the romanceAbout Time, in which she starred along with Rachel McAdams, her role in Martin Scorsese’sThe Wolf of Wall Streetgained her international recognition.

Earlier this year, Margot Robbie had her biggest success with the comedyBarbie, which she headlined. During the promotions forBarbie, the actress revealed in an interview withBBC Radio 1about her ridiculous outfits inNeighbors. Along with co-star Ryan Gosling, the actress was asked if herBarbiecostumes were the most ridiculous when she recounted one particular episode where she had to wear a cigarette costume to raise awareness against smoking.

“I’ve looked very ridiculous…I was on Neighbours for three years, they once made me wear, like, a giant cigarette suit…it was the most embarrassing thing”

In the scene, the actress is seen wearing a cylindrical cigarette suit like a theme park attraction, with only a hole in the middle to show her face. To compliment her funny outfit, she also had a slogan that she had to utter while giving out brochures to random passers in the scene. Her lines were,

“I’ll make you sick, I’ll make you stink and I’ll guarantee that nobody ever wants to kiss you”.

The actress was consoled by Ryan Gosling who revealed that he too had more embarrassing costumes when he was a child actor.
