David O. Russell’sAmsterdamfeatured a star-studded cast including Oscar-winning actor, Christian Bale who portrayed Burt Berendsen in the film. While the film garnered mixed to negative reviews from critics, many might be unaware of the lengths that the Marvel actor went to prepare for his role.

In an interview withEW, Bale recalled being a“weirdo stalker”to get inspiration for his role. He recalled a time when he followed a random stranger to observe their manners.

“I remember one time talking on the phone to David and I saw this amazingly interesting guy walking down the street. I just became a weirdo stalker following him and studying him. So he’s a big influence, whoever he is out there. I don’t know his name. He’ll never know, either.”
