The Mechanic Expert, Selo Rovak, will upgrade Kay’s speeder bike, and her ability tree can be unlocked early on in Star Wars Outlaws.
In Star Wars Outlaws, Kay Vess uses her speeder quite a bit to move around the planets she visits. The Mechanic Expert, Aila Bren can improve its efficacy and speed while also helping her with other aspects of her kit. She grants Kay the ability to boost which is a huge benefit when trying to quickly travel the large open worlds in Star Wars Outlaws. Unlocking the Mechanic is required to progress the main story on Toshara early in the game. In this guide, we will walk you through all the steps on how to unlock the Mechanic Expert in Star Wars Outlaws.
How to Unlock the Mechanic
Kay first hears about the mechanic after completing the main quest New Tricks from Danka in Juanta’s Hope. This will unlock the Expert Intel Chain, The Speeder Mechanic. While the intel chain itself is brief with only a few parts, it does lead into a full quest to unlock the Mechanic.

Boosting the Speeder Intel
You can pretty much complete this intel as soon as you receive it as you get it inside of Daruda Diner. After you get the Intel Chain from Danka, just walk right up to the bar and speak with the bartender there to get the information you need. This is one of the easier intel’s to complete.
Selo’s People Intel
The bartender at Jaunta’s Hope will point you to the windfishing village of Kadua. The village is at the far west of the Mirogana Valley and just north of the Pyke territory of the Mirage. When you get there just talk to the two windfishers by the main road through the village to conclude this part of the intel.
Selo’s Shop Intel
Hopefully, you like backtracking because that is exactly what you are going to do. Head back toward Jaunta’s Hope albeit not the whole way. Selo lives at a Speeder shop just to the northeast of Jaunta’s Hope on a cliff on the west side of the Mirage. Head there and finally speak with Selo, but she of course isn’t just gonna help you for free. She needs something from Kay. This will complete the Intel Chain and start the quest in earnest.
The Mechanic Expert Quest
After completing the Intel Chain, the Mechanic Expert quest will begin. This is a fairly easy quest that doesn’t take too long to complete, especially compared to other Expert Quest in Star Wars Outlaws.
Break into the Wind Facility
The first part of this quest is very simple. Just drive to the wind facility and place the magnetic disruptors on the circuit panel near the turbine. Once that is done hop on your speeder and ride it through the turbines and into the tunnels.
Find the Atmospheric Accelerator
Drive to the end of the tunnels into the area with the fans. DO NOT go up to the level where the fans are. They will blow you around like it is nothing. Have Nix disable the force field for you then enter the crawl space to enter the facility proper. Once you are inside you will notice several fans. When the lights beside those fans are yellow they are about to turn on. That means get out of the way or they will blow you off the platform to your death. If they are red, they are already blowing and will do the same thing. So time you movements accordingly.
Continue through the facility, climbing when necessary and avoiding the fans when they turn on. Sometimes you will see some pylons that need to be blown up. Just shoot them with your blaster to shut down the fans. verify to check around for items to collect throughout your streak through it. Watch out for the walls that pop out to push Kay off. Sometimes you will have to use those to reach new areas as well. Once you get to end. Drop into the control room, take the valuables and take the accelerator.
Leave the Facility and Return to Selo
Leave the control room and use your grappling hook to get across the gaps. You will find your speeder just inside of the now-shutdown turbines. Ride it out of the facility.
Finally, once you are outside, return to Selo at her shop to complete the quest and unlock her Expert Ability Tree.
