How to Download Multiple Photos or Videos from Telegram

Messaging apps like Telegram are a convenient way to share photos and videos with your friends and family. And, when you’rescrolling through photos on Telegram, it’s natural to reminisce many memories. WhileTelegram might auto-download the photos, but will save to your phone’s gallery only when you take action. So, here’s how to download multiple photos or videos from Telegram on Android, iPhone, Mac, and Windows PC.

Telegram’sSave to Galleryfeature lets you download all pictures at once. However, it only works for photos sent together. You can’t download multiple pictures from separate batches or individual photos. Check the steps below:

1.Open Telegram on your phone and go to the chat you want to save photos from.

2.Open any photo from the group you received. Tapthree-vertical dotsand chooseSave to Gallery.

3.In the pop-up that appears next, tap onAll photos, wherenis the number of photos in the batch.

These photos shall now appear in your phone’s gallery. You can also find them inInternal Storage>Pictures>Telegramfolder in your file manager app.

Ensure Photos and Videos Are Automatically Saved to Gallery

Don’t want to manually save photos every time you receive them? Telegram can automatically do that. Here’s how to enable automatic saving to gallery for Telegram:

1.Open the Telegram app and tap thehamburger menuin the top-left corner. SelectSettings.

2.Navigate toData and Storage.

3.UnderSave to Gallery, you’ll see three options:Private Chats,Groups, andChannels. Toggle on each.

4.you may further tap each option to choose what to auto-download (photos, videos, or both) and the maximum video size (optional).

When you receive a photo, tap on it to download it. Once downloaded, it will be automatically saved in your phone’s gallery. You can also enable auto-download inSettings>Data and Storage. This will automatically download and save all incoming photos to your gallery.

Note:This method won’t work on existing photos. It will only work on new photos. So, you will have to ask the sender to re-send the photos to automatically download them to your phone after enabling the auto-save feature.

Downloading bulk photos in the Telegram app works similarly on iPhone. Here’s how:

1.Launch Telegram on your iPhone. Open the chat you want to save photos from.

Long-press one of the photosfrom the batch. ChooseSelect All items, wherenis the total number of photos.

3.Tap theShare iconon the bottom and chooseSave PhotosorSave Videos.

You can view these images in the Photos app on your iPhone.

Telegram can also automatically save pictures and videos you receive to your Photos app. Of course, you’ll have to enable that option and it will work for photos and videos shared after you take that action. If you want to download the previously sent photos and videos, you’ll need to ask the contact to share them again.

Here are the steps to enable it:

1.In the Telegram app, tapSettingsin the bottom-right corner.

3.UnderSave to Gallery, you’ll see three options:Private Chats,Group Chats, andChannels. Tap each one and toggle onPhotosandVideos.

4.Adjust the auto-download size slider if needed (optional).

After that, all the photos and videos you receive on Telegram, they will automatically get saved to your Photos app. To ensure this works smoothly, enable auto-download inSettings>Data and Storage(if it’s not already on).

The Telegram desktop app lets you export your entire chat history, including all the files you’ve received, like pictures, videos, GIFs, and voice messages. However, this feature isn’t available in the regular Telegram app for Mac.Mac users will need to download Telegram Liteinstead.

Here are steps to download multiple images from Telegram app on Mac and Windows:

1.Open the Telegram Desktop app (on Windows) or Telegram Lite Desktop app on Mac, and head to the chat you want to download files from.

2.Click thethree vertical dotsin the top-right corner and selectExport Chat History.

3.A pop-up window will appear with export options:

4.After that, clickExportto begin the process.

5.Telegram will copy the chat data to your computer. When that finishes, a pop-up will appear. You can either clickShow my datato view the downloaded photos and videos directly, or head to the folder you chose (in step 5).

6.Inside the exported folder, you’ll find aphotosfolder containing all the pictures.

There are two photos for each file: one is the actual photo and the other is the thumbnail. The thumbnail photos have_thumbsuffixed to their name – you’re able to ignore these.

That will successfully export your photos and videos from Telegram desktop app. This method downloads your entire chat history, not just photos and videos.

For those who use Telegram Web, there’s a clever workaround – Chrome extension. These extensions allow you to download media in bulk from Telegram on your Mac. The good news is, since they work within Chrome, they’ll function in Chrome for Windows and Mac, as shown below:

1.Get TG Downloader extension for the Google Chrome browser on your Windows PC or Mac.

2.Open Telegram web (web.telegram.org), sign into your account, and open the chat you want to save photos from.

3.You’ll seeForce Downloadbutton for each photo batch. Tap on it.

4.ClickAllowwhen prompted to download multiple files.

It will automatically download all photos and videos in the batch to your Windows PC or Mac.
