How to Identify Gear Items
Any time you find a gear piece that needs identifying, you need to return to your room of requirements and place it in the Desk of Description to discover the qualities of the gear. It is a piece of furniture, a special machine that you can place anywhere in your special chambers.

How to unlock Room of Requirement?
To unlock Room of Requirement, you must progress in the main story and complete the quest with the same name –“Room of Requirement”. The quest is available around 5-6 hours into the game and after completing the “Jackdaw’s Rest” quest. The next day, you’re tasked with your broom flying lessons, meeting with Sebastian to learn the Confringo spell, and finally talking to Professor Weasley to unlock the Room of Requirement. It’s a short quest that takes you to special chambers where you can not only reveal unidentified items but also craft gear, brew potions and give a home to many magical beasts!
