Adam Driver portrayed the infamous antagonist Kylo Ren inStar Wars: The Force Awakens. His performance was highly praised by many, though it was his character that was met with a lot of criticism. Indeed, killing off an iconic character like Harrison Ford’s Han Solo would never sit well with the audience.

The actor admitted he was very anxious about how fans would react to the movie. Han Solo has been around since 1977, and for him to disappear like that, killed off by his own son, evoked so much anger from the viewers.

Adam Driver Reveals His Thoughts While Filming Han Solo’s Death
During his interview viaCNN, actorAdam Drivershared what he was thinking while shooting the infamous death scene where he struckHarrison Ford’s Han Solo with his lightsaber. He stated:
“I took it really seriously and thought about it a lot. I was aware that it was a great opportunity, and I didn’t want to be in it and be bad. A lot of people were going to watch it. I was a fan of those movies.”

When told by the host that he killed Han Solo, the actor laughed and responded: “Yeah, somebody reminds me of that every day,” which definitely suggests that he gets a lot of hate for murdering the famedStar Warscharacter. Driver also shared:
“I remember shooting that day, and it didn’t feel like that at all, obviously. It was very emotional shooting it with Harrison. Harrison was so generous and contemplative, and to me, that was a great moment on set even though it was his death.”

Speaking withGQ, theHouse of Gucciactor admitted he felt terrified while watching the movie with a crowd ofStar Warsfans. He said:
“When I watched the premiere, I felt sick to my stomach… Immediately, I thought I was going to puke. I was holding my wife [Joanne Tucker]’s hand, and she’s like, ‘You’re really cold. Are you OK?’ Because I just knew what was coming – I kill Harrison Ford – and I didn’t know how this audience of 2,000 people was going to respond to it, you know?”

Fans were not happy with how the scene between Kylo Ren and Han Solo turned out, but many also believed it was not the actor’s fault because he was just doing his job.

I am very thankful that Adam Driver decided to take this role. I respect him a lot of considering the fan base and being a fan himself he didn’t wanna let anyone down including the movies themselves.
I think he delivered a great performance in each of the 3 movies. It can be…

All the cast did a great job in their performances. But the shortcomings of the sequel series isnt their fault, its the crappy writing and creative differences between different directors.
I loved ep7, when ep8 and 9 came im like bruh what are you doing?

All the negative reactions toward Han Solo’s death only prove that Driver did a great job as a villain. He took the role to heart and poured all of his soul into delivering an epic performance as Kylo Ren.
