Kevin Feige has come under a lot of heat after the release of Brie Larson’sThe Marvels. It seems that, recently, Marvel has been finding it very hard to make their films work. The criticism that this film is receiving is quite the contrast to the praise that the second season of Loki is receiving. The film has received many criticisms, including being called confusing, having poor pacing, and lack of character development.

Another problem has been added by fans, this one towards a fan-favorite character, Nick Fury. Many have stated that in this film, this character was completely unlike himself, which caused people to get angry at Feige for not having better supervision of what the franchise takes out.

Kevin Feige’s Authority Questioned By Fans
It was pointed out by a fan onTwitterthat they believe thatKevin Feigehasn’t had the best supervision when it comes to the upcoming projects released by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This was reinforced by the release ofThe Marvels, specifically by Samuel L Jackson’s character, Nick Fury. They pointed out that it feels very odd that his character is being used as the comic relief for this film, with him continuously, cracking, jokes and making quips.
While he does have a reputation for being quite sarcastic, jokes like the one that he is making an extremely uncharacteristic for him. It is also important to remember that the last time that he was seen, inSecret Invasion,he had just lost Talos and Maria Hill, two characters very close to him. Having suffered such a great loss, it is extremely odd to see him be used as a comic relief character. They finished by stating that it is high time that Marvel starts telling the directors of projects what is going on in other projects so that they can make sure that the characters are consistent.

Fans React To Fury’s Change
After this criticism hit the Internet, fans were quick to share their own opinions on the matter. Many agreed with the sentiment, stating that though they did not notice this on their first viewing, now that it was mentioned, the character’s behavior was very odd. Some tried to justify this by stating that they thought thatSecret Invasiontook place afterThe Marvels. This, in actuality, is not the case.
You can definitely tell Feige hasn’t really been supervising this stuff like he used to though.

Fury from Secret Invasion to this is like a completely different person.
This would be like if Tony watched Spider-man die in his arms at the end of the Infinity War and then showed…

100%, even turned around to my friend while watching to ask “whys fury like this? It’s like all the events of secret invasion was wiped from his mind”

Oh this is true but I think of it as Nick Fury in this movie used it as an escape to get away from the drama then he returns to earth with Carol so now you know some shjt finna go down

It’s that bad huh? I wasn’t expecting anything from “The Marvels”, had 0 excitement about it, but this seems like a rollercoaster for MCU going up once and going down the next minute, a complete contrast to Loki.

This is SO true but I just kinda explain it away by telling myself Secret Invasion takes place after The Marvels lol

Some were surprised that this happened, stating that though they weren’t expecting much from this film, they did not think that they would ruin a character so iconic. A few fans, however, try to justify this change in his personality, stating that it could be a possibility that he was simply trying to avoid the way he’s feeling and escape, by going to Carol Danvers.
