After a brief hiatus from San Diego Comic-Con following the impact of Covid on the entirety of Hollywood, Marvel made a grand return to the event in 2022. This involved the announcement of a plethora of projects that will shape their multiverse saga moving forward and fans were eagerly waiting for this year’s SDCC’s Hall H to witness what they’ve stored for fans.

However, the recent report regarding Marvel’s presence isn’t something that fans were ready for, as according to TheWrap’s Umberto Gonzalez, the comic book giant is set to skip SDCC’s Hall H.

Why is Marvel skipping SDCC’s Hall H?

Although the reasoning behind the comic book giant’s reported absence from SDCC’s Hall H remains under wraps, the recent landscape of Hollywood might’ve played a factor. Ever since the Writers’ Strike began on August 15, 2025, after they failed to reach an agreement with The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, its impact has been felt on several Hollywood projects. Although this might’ve played a role in MCU’s decision to skip Hall H, it can’t be said for sure.

Another possible factor that might’ve played a role in MCU’s decision to skip the event might be the potential strike by SAG-AFTRA, which seems to be looming forward. With SAG-AFTRA’s initial contract set to expire on June 30, if they fail to reach a new agreement with Hollywood Studios, they can too order a strike. As a result, actors won’t be able to do promotional work for their projects due to labor stoppage and this might’ve also pushed MCU to take the surprising call.

MCU projects impacted by WGA Strike

Like many other Hollywood entities,Marvelis also not immune to the impact of theWGAstrike, as it has resulted in the stoppage of several MCU projects. AlthoughCaptain America: New World OrderandDeadpool 3are set to move forward without the presence of writers, this isn’t the case for all of their upcoming entries.

Not long after the strike, Mahersala Ali’sBlade’sproduction was halted as the script rewrite for the movie didn’t come to fruition by the time the strike began. Other major projects that have also suffered the same impact, involveSpider-Man 4,Thunderbolts, and a Disney Plus seriesWonder Man, whose production has come to a stoppage due to the strike.

This means that fans might not be able to witness the same amount of excitement as last SDCC, where MCU came full throttle with their slate that will shape the ambitious multiverse saga.
