Vivino was a good friend of O’Brien’s, being his show’s band leader and“an amazing guitar player”. O’Brien, at that point, had been hosting his show,Conan, for quite some time. He had appeared on television and was considerably well known.

What followed was, due to some disturbance and the crowd shoving the TV anchor, O’Brien ended up directly in front of the famous singer/ songwriter. Dylan was fairly famous at the time of the incident, leaving O’Brien slightly starstruck and at a loss of words. However, Dylan took one look at O’Brien, and in his iconic style said:

Al Gore

O’Brien never got the chance to meet Bob Dylan again, with just the phantom of a conversation lingering in his brain. O’Brien regales the interaction every chance he gets because while it would have been an absolute honor talking to Al Gore, seemingly little compares to the late-night show host’s wish to talk to singing legend Bob Dylan, and rightly so.
