Edwards and Covington have been in a heated feud since Covington commented some harsh words on Edwards’ deceased father and the UFC fighter refused to apologize for his action in a press conference.

Leon Edwards had a remarkable victory over Colby Covington in Ultimate Fighting Championship 296. Following his victory, wrestler-turned-actorDwayne Johnsontook to hisInstagramto congratulate Edwards sharing a video of him.“Classy and motivating, as always.It’s doing the same thing of putting in the hard work— over and over and over and over again. Day in. Day out. For decades. Hardest workers in the room,”the caption reads. In the video, Edward is seen with a message referring to Johnson’s motivation and his own hard work.
“I think the hardest worker in the room is always the one that is gonna be more successful in what they want to do. It don’t have to be MMA, it can be anything. When you put a time in dedicate yourself to work hard, study it, live it, you’ll achieve anything. I think that’s what MMA has taught me. It goes back to what The Rock said, the hardest worker in the room,”Edwards said.

The UFC champion went on to add,“everyone thinks just wake up one morning and you’re successful. If you just post on social media, you’ll have to put the time in, dedicate yourself and work hard and the dream will be yours.”Ahead of the main event, Edwards had to undergo his opponent Covington’s harsh words that took a dig at the champion’s personal life.

Colby Covington Used His Trash-Talking Ability To Aggravate Leon Edwards
Covington is notoriously famous for his use of trash-talk as a weapon in his arsenal. But this time, he made Edwards come at him aggravating the Welterweight champion by referring to his dead father.“I’m going to bring you to the seventh layer of hell, we’ll say, “What’s up” to your dad while we’re there,”Covington said (viaMMAWeekly.com). Even later, the former champion refused to apologize for his jibe at Edwards.
“Why would I have sympathy for a s*x trafficker? Someone who’s impacted and hurt a lot of people’s lives. The truth always stings the worst in the world. So, no, I don’t feel bad about that at all. Let’s talk about all the victims that he left behind that are surviving all the trauma and the turmoil that he put these people’s lives through. I don’t feel bad at all. Why would I feel bad for a criminal?”Covington said in a press conference (viaTheMacLife).

Losing the fight to Edwards, Covington went on to add that he had no excuse for his performance acknowledging that his timing was not right and ready to focus on what next coming at him.
