There are quite a few examples of Hollywood stars going the extra mile to make a scene in the film as realistic as possible, which often also includes physical and mental stress as a by-product. Among these actors, Brie Larson is popular for going through some challenging trials to prepare for the roles in her films.

And while she may currently be in conversations due to her insane physical training regime for her role as Captain Marvel in the MCU, there was a film in her career that pushed her to her absolute limits, but more on a psychological level than physical. In fact, it took a toll on her to the extent that she lost her memories while shooting the scenes.

Brie Larson Lost Her Memories While Shooting ForRoom

While the tradition of preparing for roles is not uncommon, it definitely becomes crazy when the methods used are of an extreme nature. Brie Larson experienced some of these methods first-hand when she was preparing for her role inRoom, for which she also received an Oscar for The Best Actress category. To achieve this, she had to go through mind-bending procedures like drowning herself on purpose and training her mind to that of her character. All of this eventually caught up to her.

During an interview, the21 Jump Streetstar revealed her methods to get into the state of mind of her character while also trying her best to shoot every scene with clarity of mind. Then, she also revealed the fact that during the shoot of the scene where she’s running through snow and getting hurt in the process, she didn’t remember performing it at all. And when she woke up the next day, she was confused by all the bruises on her body. She said:

“I was in such an adrenaline rush, and I was running through the snow in socks with just those track pants and a tank top and no bra. I guess I was fighting them off and hitting them, and then I slipped and fell on the ice, and then, when I went to dive into the police car. I guess I hit my head,”

The main factor she blamed for her missing memories was the intense amount of adrenaline that she was running on, which switched off her mind and moved her body on instinct.

What WasRoomAbout?

The story ofRoomis not for the faint of heart as it follows the story of Brie Larson’s character, who is imprisoned in a garden shed for 7 years of her life, where she’s ra*ed every day by her captor. Her only solace in this hell is her child whom she loves more than herself. The film doesn’t shy away from showing the depravity of a criminal mind, as well as outlines the unbreakable parental bond as life slowly eats away at her heart, her body, and her mind.
