After the worldwide acclamation of the 1999 animated seriesBatman Beyond, DC decided to create a live-action adaptation for the same which was to starMichael Keaton. However, reports have recently turned up claiming that the Keaton-featured adaptation of the superhit series might just not hit the big screens, all becauseEzra Miller‘s recently releasedThe Flashcouldn’t do well in the cinemas.

TheClerksseries director,Kevin Smithrecently broke this news on his Fat Man Beyond’s latest podcast. In the words of the filmmaker,
“I was hoping that it did better than it did because Michael Uslan’s kid said that…if the movie did as well as The Batman — The Batman opened at $130 million — one of the next Batman movies they’re going to make is Batman Beyond with Michael Keaton. So I was like, ‘Oh, my God, now I hope this movie makes a lot of money.'”

The Flash, which was made with a budget of over $220M, did so poorly at the cinemas that it fell short with only $138M in box-office earnings. So basically, thanks toThe Flash‘s box-office failure, now the much-awaited Keaton starrerBatman Beyondis rather unlikely to hit the big screens.

The Time When Clint Eastwood Almost Played Batman
Batman’s iconic role has been portrayed by several top-class actors, includingChristian BaleandBen Affleck. However, little do people know thatClint Eastwoodtoo once almost starred as Batman in the unmade live-actionBatman Beyondfilm.
An actor turned director, Eastwood has starred in several iconic characters in all of Hollywood’s history, including super-loved characters like Man with No Name inThe Good, the Bad, and the Uglyand Ben Shockley inThe Gauntletamong others. So the thought of him starring as an old and grizzled Bruce Wayne was rather fascinating to both the fans as well as the critics.
However, as fate willed it, the movie never made it to the big screens as during the time of its production, Warner Brothers were desperately trying to find a new way to keep the Batman franchise together after the epic failure ofBatman & Robin.
While Clint Eastwood would have been the perfect match to play the dark and broody character, however, his response to starring as Batman still lies unknown.
You can catchThe Flashin the cinemas now.
