As the MCU becomes a perpetual machine for bringing characters of Marvel Comics to life on the big and small screens, there are a lot of new stars that have entered the cinematic franchise, and also many that have left it behind after giving it their all for a significant part of their careers. Thus, it becomes quite important for them to establish themselves outside the cinematic juggernaut.

And so far, many of the old-time icons of the cinematic universe have bid their farewells from their iconic superhero roles. But life goes on, and so does their career, which has prompted all of them to take the next big steps. Naturally, some of them have seen overnight success in the industry, while others are still trying to find their footing.

Playing the role of Gamora in the cinematic universe, actressZoe Saldanahas by far been the most successful actress outside of the MCU. Her pivotal role as Neytiri in James Cameron’s hyper-successful film seriesAvatarhas made her one of the highest-grossing stars of all time with both the films in the franchise thus far making more than $5 Billion at the box office.

But unlike his co-star Robert Downey Jr., he has not been able to make it big outside the MCU.
