As the MCU becomes a perpetual machine for bringing characters of Marvel Comics to life on the big and small screens, there are a lot of new stars that have entered the cinematic franchise, and also many that have left it behind after giving it their all for a significant part of their careers. Thus, it becomes quite important for them to establish themselves outside the cinematic juggernaut.

And so far, many of the old-time icons of the cinematic universe have bid their farewells from their iconic superhero roles. But life goes on, and so does their career, which has prompted all of them to take the next big steps. Naturally, some of them have seen overnight success in the industry, while others are still trying to find their footing.
1: Robert Downey Jr.
After his departure as Iron Man from the MCU with the release ofAvengers: Endgame, everyone wanted to know what was next forRobert Downey Jr., the man who arguably made the MCU possible. For some years after his MCU retirement, he took a deserving break from the film industry, and this year, he made his big-screen return with none other than legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan in his recent masterpieceOppenheimer. 2: Tom Holland
Most iconic for playing the role of Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man in the MCU,Tom Hollandmade the portrayal of the web-slinger in the franchise the most successful iteration in cinema history. Thus, at the end ofSpider-Man: Far From Home, he took his leave from Marvel to pursue his career in the industry. So far, he has seen commercial success with his filmUnchartedbut has failed to create an impression on the critics, who called it a bad film.
3: Zoe Saldana
Playing the role of Gamora in the cinematic universe, actressZoe Saldanahas by far been the most successful actress outside of the MCU. Her pivotal role as Neytiri in James Cameron’s hyper-successful film seriesAvatarhas made her one of the highest-grossing stars of all time with both the films in the franchise thus far making more than $5 Billion at the box office.
4: Chris Evans
After making waves across the MCU and the world with his depiction of Captain America in the franchise,Chris Evanstoo said his goodbyes to Marvel with the release ofAvengers: Endgame.
